‘Conquer the skies’ world air route map
The Mainichi Newspapers Company, publisher of the Daily News, is Japan’s oldest newspaper company. This World air route map, centred on Japan, features famous flights (with illustrations of the aircraft) including the 1929 round-the-world flight of airship LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin, Charles Lindbergh’s 1927 solo transatlantic flight, the scientifically valuable but ill-fated 1928 flight of the Airship Italia to the North Pole, and the first aerial circumnavigation of the world, carried out in 1924 by four United States Army Air Service pilots.
