Beck’s 1934 Passenger Map

Underground Railways of London

In stock

Tri-fold passenger map, 14.4 x 20.3 cm, printed in colours, only trivial signs of use, with neat ink annotation (1934-1) in upper border on the cover.

This is the first issue of 1934, identical with the last issue of 1933 other than the revised print code (34-1945 350M). A low print run has ensured that this issue is relatively hard to find. A slightly larger card folder was introduced later in the year.

Beck’s diagram is possibly one of the most innovative and influential designs of the twentieth century. First published in 1933, Beck remained directly associated with it until 1960 except for a short period when responsibility for revising and updating the map passed to Hans Schleger.
