  • This significant and original regional map of Padua is from Magini's great work, the first detailed national atlas of Italy, published posthumously by his son Fabio in 1620.

Magini was a renowned mathematician and astronomer as well as a cartographer. He undertook a number of duties, including teaching the children of the Duke of Mantua, Vincenzo Gonzaga, in his quest for cartographic material and in order to finance the engraving and publishing of his Italia, and he drew on the best available cartographic sources, by Gastaldi, Bonifacio, Parisio and others, some of which are otherwise unrecorded.
