Morden’s series of small county maps (not be be confused with the set published in Gibson’s edition of Camden’s ‘Britannia’) were first published in ‘The new description and state of England’, 1701. The compass indicator was added by Hermann Moll for his edition, ‘Fifty six new and accurate maps of Great Britain,’ of 1708. The maps appeared other works, notably Thomas Cox’s ‘Magnae Britanniae’, 1730.
