Merionethshire
In stock
Copper engraving, 12.2 x 15 cm, original hand-colour, blank verso. A map of Merionethshire prepared for Anglia Contracta, Seller’s miniature county atlas. Seller’s atlases are notoriously difficult to date but this particular work, marking Seller’s re-entry into the market for English county maps after his folio Atlas Anglicanus failed to get off the ground, was engraved and published between the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and the death of Queen Mary in 1694. The plates were re-issued without alteration in a number of works between 1696 and 1703, but are now scarce.
