UERL 1911 Common Design Passenger Map

The Underground Map of London / London map and Guide

In stock

Six panel passenger map of the London underground, 20.5 x 27 cm, printed in colours with key to the numbered ‘places of interest and amusement’ and travel information printed on the verso; folded for inclusion in a guidebook.

Regarded by Maxwell Roberts as ‘one of the earliest maps to simplify line trajectories’ (Underground Maps Unravelled p. 29) and therefore a useful step towards schematic mapping, this early iteration of the UERL common design also achieves a good extent in the Western suburbs. Illustrated in Leboff & Demuth, No Need to Ask, p. 57
