The verso has a detailed map of the canal zone, with statistical information and a brief history which concludes with its wartime role as ‘a major highway on the road to Japan. VJ Day will come sooner because the United States completed the Panama Canal’.
Distributed by the Panama Mobile Force and Security Command, it was prepared by the Department Engineer Reproduction Plant as ‘a personnel service from Hq. Sixth Air Force’. The map shows galleons and gold mines and is peopled with costumed and historical figures.
