This map is really two plans printed on one sheet, lithographed by Edward Culliford and printed by Day & Haghe, and published by Wyld in ‘Maps & plans showing the principal movements, battles and sieges in which the British Army was engaged during the war from 1808 to 1814 in the Spanish Peninsula and the south of France’.

The upper plan, showing Sir Thomas Graham’s defeat of the French at Barrosa, was taken from a sketch by Thomas Harriott, an officer in the staff corps, and dated 2 April 1811. A tactical victory which forced a temporary French retreat, it failed to break the French siege of Cadiz.
The lower, depicting the Allied victory at Albuera, was taken from a sketch in the possession of Lord Beresford. Albuera was the bloodiest action of the Peninsular War. Although Soult was forced to retreat without relieving the French garrison in Badajoz, Wellington abandoned the siege in June.
