    Smith wrote a number of books on London history, including ‘Historical Recollections of Hyde Park’ (1836) and books on the Yeomen of the Guard and Chelsea Hospital (1851 and 1852). In the present work he mentions that he was born in Marylebone. Read more

    8vo. pp. 319 [i] + 6 single-page lithographic plates by Edward Hassell and black and white folding map, all locally printed on Great Castle Street by Jeremie Graf and James Lewis Soret; spotting to plates. Early green ribbed cloth, probabaly a publisher’s binding. Old ownership signature of Edward Gane on the title-page.
