Copper engraving, 36 x 49 cm, map of Liverpool engraved by John I and Alexander Walker, black and white, dissected into 16 panels and laid on linen as issued, folding into original grey card slipcase with pink publisher’s label bearing an 1833 date for the survey (suggesting that publication may have been briefly postponed; no earlier state is recorded). Detailed street map of city identifying major buildings and with table of reference noting docks, quays and churches, chapels and schools. Inset is a ‘geometrical sectional view of the line of docks, from north to south’, taken through a dotted line marked on the map.
