Ficino produced the first complete translation of Plato’s works, edited here by the Protestant theologian and scholar Simon Grynaeus, who held the post of professor of Greek at Basel.

Folio. pp. [xii], 959, [xxvii]. Lacks final leaf (with woodcut device) but with woodcut printer’s device to title. Text in Latin, with decorative woodcut initials; marginal staining to final leaves of text and index, outer margin of final leaf strengthened,.
Modern blind-stamped calf, with a classical portico tooled on the front cover.
Old ownership inscriptions and ink stamps to title: 19th century ink stamps of Dominican libraries in Le Havre and Rouen (presumably the Abbaye de Graville and the Couvent des Dominicains).
