The Brotherton Library in Leeds possesses another copy, inscribed "From the author", and with Gosse's bookplate; but the close association between T.J. Wise and Gosse's estate casts a little doubt on the history of their copy, however.
Condition & Materials
An important presentation copy, inscribed "Edmund W. Gosse / with the author's kind regards". Covers darkened, spine chipped with small loss at head, and 30mm loss down one side, but a rare book.
