The “District Railway” Miniature Map of London and Environs (6th edition)

District Railway routes are overprinted in red on this road and rail map of central London and the inner suburbs. The Mill Hill Park (Acton) to Hounslow Barracks branch, shown here as part of the District railway, was taken over from the Metropolitan Railway and electrified between 1903 and 1905. 

The District Railway was one of the earliest underground lines: the stretch of track from South Kensington to Westminster was opened in 1868.

Lithographed map, printed area measurement 28.5 x 44 cm, engraved by WE Soar, printed in red and black, blank verso, tabbed for insertion in a guide book, old folds.
