Thomas Smith wrote a number of books on London history, including ‘A topographical and historical account of the Parish of St. Mary-le-bone’ (1833), in which he mentions that he was born in Marylebone, and books on the Yeomen of the Guard and Chelsea Hospital (1851 and 1852).
