Charles Hullmandel was bloody brilliant. You should read up on him – might we recommend the Dictionary of British Map Engravers (Laurence Worms & Ashley Baynton-Williams; Rare Book Society 2011)?
Aquatint, 43.5 x 31 cm, later (but not recent) hand colour, blank verso; removed from an old frame with the line of the mount still visible in the margins, and some old glue residue showing through. ‘London as it is’ was printed for Boys by the pioneering lithographer Charles Hullmandel in two distinct versions: ours was originally sepia tinted, but a deluxe version was coloured by hand and mounted in a portfolio. Abbey, Scenery, 240 (24); Adams, London Illustrated, 196/24.
