This map was published in Henry Morton Stanley’s Through the Dark Continent, but here dissected at an early date to create a robust folding map.
A result of Welsh-American explorer HM Stanley’s first trans-Africa expedition, sponsored by the New York Herald and the Daily Telegraph, our map contains a wealth of new information about central Africa, particularly the course of the River Congo.
Condition & Materials 2 lithographed maps, printed area for each measures 87.5 x 71 cm, printed in colours. Dissected into 28 panels and laid on linen, minor wear.
