This map of Malaya has an inset regional map locating Malaya in the context of ‘adjacent terrritories’.
A previous owner of this, map Lieutenant David H. Fielding, served in the Royal Hampshire Regiment with Malaya Command during the Malayan Emergency, 1953-56 (a National Service Commission; he was awarded the ‘Malaya’ bar with his GSM).
Fielding went on to read geography at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, 1956-59, and in 1960 served a tour with the Colonial Service as a District Officer in North Borneo (immediately before independence, experiences he recounted in a published work, Borneo - Jewel in a Jade Rainbow). For most of his subsequent teaching career he was Head of Geology at Radley College.
