The 48 squares around the board depict locomotives, rolling stock, and some principal stations of the growing rail network. Also illustrated are the hazards of early rail travel – some more catastrophic than others (floods, derailment, pigs on the line etc).

Engraved folding race game, printed area measurement 49.5 x 61 cm, dissected into 15 panels and laid on linen, original hand colour, slight adhesion damage affecting central panels and squares 41 and 42, folding into decorative cloth slip-case, gilt, minor wear; lacks rule-book.
