Landscape artist Samuel Rayner (1806-1879) trained as a draughtsman under the antiquary John Britton, and exhibited his first work at the Royal Academy when he was just fifteen.
Condition & Materials
8vo. pp. viii, [x], 372 + 22 b/w single-page plates as called for, including frontispiece and additional engraved title, mostly lithographed by Samuel Rayner, occasional slight spotting.
Contemporary black half calf over marbled boards, slightly rubbed and scuffed; ownership signature ‘Kynnersley’ to title.
