    BM notes that ‘this composition is based on a picture by Francis Swain Ward... it depicts the river Yamuna, as it flows past the fort at Mathura, in Uttar Pradesh. The fort, known as the Khans Qila, was built by Raja Man Singh of Amber in the early 17th Century.’
