This map of Arabia was published in an Italian edition of Bonne’s ‘Atlas Encyclopédique contenant la géographie ancienne, la géographie moderne et les cartes relatives à la géographie physique’.

The atlas was co-authored with Nicolas Desmarest, and accompanied the Padua edition of Diderot’s famous ‘Encyclopédie’. The maps (which closely follow those in Bonne’s ‘Atlas de Toutes Parties Connues du Globe Terrestre’) were engraved by Scattaglia in Venice and the whole project reflects late 18th century Italian interest in the French Enlightenment
