Dedicated to Mitchell Davis Follansbee, ‘a gentleman of good taste (non alcoholic)’ of Chicago, this book includes an early - possibly the earliest recorded - tequila cocktail recipe (‘young man’s delight’, p.139). There are numerous New York-specific references in the text (for example, where to buy cans of pineapple juice).
Published during Prohibition (1920-1933) the first edition appears to be exceptionally scarce: we have been unable to locate any institutional copies. A second edition published in 1934, post-repeal, seems to have survived in greater numbers. Read more
