This 1907 passenger map, including advertising for the ‘Piccadilly Tube... London’s latest Tube’, is the first to be printed with the title ‘Underground Electric Railways of London’.
The title emphasises the integrated network formed from the lines under the UERL umbrella. Non-UERL lines with which the Underground Group had agreements are depicted as bold black lines; those with no such relationship are thin. Read more
By 1908 the common design gave equal weighting to all the lines, regardless of ownership, and passengers began to be encouraged to use the whole Underground as a network.
Condition & Materials
Lithographed 12 panel folding passenger map, printed area measures 32.5 x 42 cm. Printed in red and black with adversting on verso, trivial wear at fold intersections.
