Our map shows the Paris of Charles X, the last Bourbon King of France (from the senior line), deposed in the revolution of 1830. It predates the substantial remodelling of the city under Napoleon III. Read more
Hérisson died in 1816, but in this form his plan of Paris appears to have been issued between 1823 and the late 1830s.
Condition & Materials
Copper engraving, printed area measurement 58.5 x 83 cm, original hand colour delineating the 12 original arrondissements, street index in the borders, a couple of ink spots but generally clean, folding into contemporary publisher’s paper boards with printed paper label, somewhat rubbed and worn.
